The Pros and Cons of Natural Gas Cars

Any other car that one dreams of buying, owning or using has its commensurate pros and cons. From whatever custom fits, trims and add-ons one can think of, to fuel efficiency, environmental issues and manoeuvrability, knowing what are its advantages and disadvantages is essential especially for those who are planning on getting a natural gas powered car.
Natural gas has not been used as extensively as compared to gasoline and diesel fuels. It may even be easier to get an electric powered car than one that uses natural gas and for this, knowing its benefits and drawbacks can be important.
Natural gas cars helps improve pollution control because of the fact that they produce less exhaust as compared to gasoline or diesel powered cars. These natural gas cars are called Compressed Natural gas (CNG) cars, because natural gas is first compressed to be used as fuel.
Many countries around the world are offering tax incentives for those who are looking to buy a natural gas car. These incentives are offered to help out minimize air pollution.
These custom cars utilize natural gas which is in abundance. One can be assured that because of its abundance, natural gas prices may not be that high as compared to gasoline or diesel.
For those who are thinking of buying a natural gas car, the cost of maintenance will not be a worry. Preventive maintenance for such cars will be low and minimal as compared to traditional gasoline or diesel powered cars.
Another thing to remember about natural gas cars is that because of its high compression ratio, fewer by-products are produced by the cars thereby helping the environment.
For those who cannot afford a new CNG car, a custom conversion kit is available that converts the car to run on both gasoline and natural gas, making it a bit of a hybrid.
The most common drawback for a natural gas car is its storage tank. Since natural gas needs to be stored in a tank, design implementation has limited such cars to store a limited amount of CNG since a big storage tank is not conducive and might be even hazardous.
Using natural gas to power cars means that speed is reduced as compared to those powered by gasoline or diesel. Though not totally slow, it just means that its speed is greatly lessened because of the low horsepower it generates.
Another drawback in using natural gas powered cars is mileage performance. One full tank of natural gas provides lesser mileage compared to a full tank of gasoline powered cars at car swap meets.
Because it uses custom gas tanks, filling stations require customized equipment thereby limiting CNG station availability. This means that one should always be aware of when they need to fill up before the gas runs out or they’ll have to tow their car to the nearest CNG station or carry a bigger CNG storage tank.
Another reason why not many gas stations carry CNG filling capabilities is the fact that natural gas has not been extensively used as a source of car fuel because it requires a lot of processes and the high cost of implementing it as an alternative fuel to power cars.
Because these types of cars are not that popular as compared to traditional cars, production costs are high and therefore, purchase cost is also expensive. This is mainly due to the fact that a lot of custom fits, packages and parts are used.
Through it all, these custom cars may have its pros and cons, but always remember that the most important reason why one should buy and use these type of cars is because it is environmentally friendly.

Redesign of the classic chevron logo

Redesign of the classic chevron logoThe first steps of this new strategy were the redesign of the classic double chevron logo and layout of the DS concept (photos), a name that evokes the revolutionary luxury sedan of the 50s, but is now applied to a compact car with clear intentions to compete against the Mini Cooper.

The production DS goes on sale next year and will be marketed worldwide, including Marcos. The new brand will arrive before our country: from April dealerships will start to have a new aesthetic.

Citroen also made a global commitment to improve customer service. To this end published an interesting monologue (?) To be met by all vendors:

1. No customer will wait more than three minutes without being served.
2. Requests for information made by Internet will be answered within 24 hours.
3. Customer needs are clearly identified, presenting products and services tailored to your desires.
4. The test drives will be offered spontaneously and systematically.
5. The proposed purchase will be formally delivered and personalized in a form.
6. The seller will say “thank you”, will accompany the client to the door and say “goodbye.”
7. The customer will have a reliable delivery date will be informed immediately of any change.
8. The vehicle will be delivered in perfect condition and 100% according to the order. The customer will receive information on use and maintenance.
9. All customers will be contacted no more than five days to see if they are satisfied with the vehicle.
